The SCA Tournament: Playing for Peace and Unity

We are proud to announce the launch of the Stop Child Abuse (SCA) Tournament a transformative initiative designed to use the power of sport to foster peace, unity, and resilience among displaced communities in Kakuma.

In environments like the Kakuma Refugee Camp, where scarce resources and cultural differences can lead to escalating tensions, this tournament serves as a vital bridge for reconciliation. By bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds—including South Sudanese, Congolese, and Somali communities—we are creating a protected space to redefine relationships.

Why Sport Matters for Protection Peace is not merely the absence of conflict; it is the presence of social cohesion. Through teamwork and fair play, we are:

  • Promoting Peaceful Coexistence: Transforming the pitch into a classroom for cooperation.
  • Dismantling Stereotypes: Uniting players as teammates rather than rivals, proving that our commonalities outweigh our differences.
  • Empowering Young Advocates: Equipping the next generation of leaders to champion non-violence and child protection within their own neighborhoods.

Our Holistic Approach The SCA Tournament goes beyond the final whistle. Football and volleyball matches are intentionally paired with peacebuilding workshops focused on conflict resolution. By engaging local leaders, elders, and artists, we celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of Kakuma through music, dance, and storytelling.

To ensure a lasting legacy, winning teams receive dedicated mentorship to lead their own community peace initiatives. We aren't just playing a game; we are building a safer, more united future. Together, we play for peace.
