Beyond the Streets: Protecting Our Most Vulnerable Children in Kakuma

By SCA Field OperationsChild Protection & Humanitarian Aid

Behind every statistic of displacement, there are children like the ones pictured here.

In the Kakuma Refugee Camp, a growing number of children are finding themselves living on the streets, having lost their parents and their primary support systems to the harsh realities of conflict and displacement.

The Reality of Life on the Streets These children face daily risks that no child should ever have to endure: lack of shelter, malnutrition, exposure to exploitation, and the constant psychological toll of being truly alone in an environment as vast as a refugee camp.

For many, a simple moment of respite like the one captured in the image is a rare occurrence in a life defined by uncertainty.

Our Mission: Protection and Restoration At Stop Child Abuse (SCA), we believe that every child deserves a childhood, not a struggle for survival.

We are actively working to:

  • Identify and Protect: Reaching children who are isolated or living on the streets to ensure their immediate safety.
  • Provide Stability: Creating community-led care pathways that offer the emotional and physical support these children lost when they lost their families.
  • Restore Potential: Through our educational initiatives, like the Avy Academy, we aim to bring these children back into a learning environment where they can build the skills to shape their own futures.

How You Can Help These children are the most vulnerable among us, and they are counting on our collective humanity. Support for our program goes directly toward:

  • Nutritional Support: Ensuring every child has consistent, daily access to healthy food.
  • Safe Shelter: Strengthening our community-based fostering and protection networks.
  • Educational Access: Providing the school supplies and support needed to reintegrate these children into the classroom.

Your contribution is not just a donation; it is a lifeline. By supporting SCA, you are helping us replace the danger of the streets with the security of a community that cares.
