Promoting Mental Health and Well-being in Kakuma and Kalobeyei

By SCA Field OperationsMental Health & Psychosocial Support

Last week, Stop Child Abuse (SCA) joined partners working within the refugee response and community members from across Kakuma and Kalobeyei to commemorate World Mental Health Day at Center Three, Kakuma.

The gathering provided an opportunity to raise awareness about mental health, encourage open conversations, promote psychosocial well-being, and remind our communities that mental health is an essential part of our overall health and dignity.

We recognize the importance of working together with humanitarian partners, community-based organizations, refugee-led organizations, and community members to address mental health challenges, reduce stigma, and ensure that everyone feels supported, heard, and included.

At Stop Child Abuse (SCA), we believe that protecting children also means supporting their mental and emotional well-being.

Through community engagement, child protection, awareness-raising, and psychosocial support initiatives, we remain committed to helping children, young people, and families build resilience and access safe, supportive environments.

We appreciate all partners and community members who joined us for this important occasion. Together, we can build communities where mental health matters, seeking support is encouraged, and no one has to face their struggles alone.
