Stop Child Abuse (SCA) is a Refugee-led organization operating in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement, and surrounding host communities in Turkana County, Kenya.

About the SCA Onsite Youth Internship Program
The SCA Onsite Youth Internship Program is designed to equip young professionals and students with practical skills, hands-on experience, and opportunities to contribute to impactful humanitarian and development programmes.
As a Refugee-led organization, SCA believes in nurturing local leadership while creating learning opportunities for both refugee and international interns.
Through mentorship, field engagement, and professional development, interns gain first-hand experience implementing community-driven programmes that promote protection, resilience, and sustainable development. Interns work directly with experienced mentors, participate in programme implementation, support research and advocacy, and contribute to real projects that benefit refugee and host communities.
Internship Information & Timeline
- Program Duration: Minimum of 4 weeks.
- Application Deadline: Applications are accepted throughout the year.
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Optional field and community activities on Saturdays).

Internship Support & Logistics
For Refugee and Kenyan Interns:
Eligible refugee and Kenyan interns receive a monthly stipend of KES 5,000 to support transportation and other internship-related expenses.
For International Interns:
- Programme Contribution: USD 620 per month.
- Cost Breakdown:
- USD 540: Accommodation
- USD 40: Local transportation (between accommodation and programme sites)
- USD 40: Contribution toward supporting SCA community programmes
- Please Note: Interns are responsible for their own meals. Accommodation includes access to a shared kitchen, and grocery stores and restaurants are available nearby in Kakuma Town.
Requirements for International Interns
Applicants should have:
- Strong English communication skills.
- Current university enrollment or recent graduation (preferred but not required).
- Academic background or experience in humanitarian assistance, international development, public health, education, social work, communications, environmental studies, law, public policy, or related fields.
- Relevant skills aligned with the selected internship track.
- Demonstrated commitment to community-led development and refugee inclusion.
- Respect for cultural diversity and ethical engagement.
- Availability for at least four weeks.
