Beyond the Workshop: Redefining Community-Based Child Protection in Kalobeyei

By SCA Field OperationsChild Protection & Advocacy

Government entities, INGOs, CBOs, and RLOs have conducted countless trainings on Child Protection (CP) over the years.

So, what’s next? How do we move beyond attendance sheets, printed certificates, and a bottle of soda to actually ensure the knowledge gained is translated into real, sustained action on the ground?

At Stop Child Abuse (SCA), we refused to accept the old model.

We have deliberately centralized our solutions around one powerful idea: Community-Based Child Protection. Real ownership. Real practice. Real champions.

Last week in Kalobeyei Villages 1, 2 & 3, we didn’t just train parents and community members; we equipped them to become active protectors of their own children.

After every session, families walked away not only with deeper knowledge but with immediate, tangible support: 1 kg of unga (maize flour) and 1 kg of sugar per household, distributed transparently and strictly with the full, documented consent of the parents.

Because awareness without follow-through is just another workshop. Because training without accountability is just expensive talk.

We are not here for another round of passive “awareness.” We are here to build a movement where every participant becomes a champion protecting children today, tomorrow, and long after we leave.

This is what community-based CP looks like in action.
